Missionary Benedictine Sisters in Goma, Congo

For almost two decades, the people of Congo have been forced to flee again and again, leaving everything behind to escape death. Countless women, men, and children die every day in the fighting, while fleeing, or as a result of disease, lack of care, and rape. Many young men and children are forced to join various rebel groups and serve as cannon fodder.

Because bombs are falling outside the city of Goma, more and more residents and refugees are fleeing to the city center, to relatives, acquaintances, anywhere they will take them in, including the center of the Benedictine missionary community.

Despite the dramatic political situation, the African Rainbow Foundation continues to enable many children to attend school. We also provide support with care costs, rent subsidies, and food aid.
